magazine presents The Excellence in Needle Arts Awards 2012 PINCUSHION Contest

This contest will have a two-part judging. For the first round we ask that you send us photographs of your pincushion creations via our online submission form no later than April 2, 2012. If you prefer to mail your entry form and photographs, please send us your entries postmarked no later than March 26, 2012. Photographs sent after April 2, 2012, will not be judged. Mailed photographs will not be returned.

Photo entries will be judged by the editors of PieceWork magazine. Finalists will be picked for the second round of judging and notified on or before April 16, 2012. If you are accepted as a finalist, send your pincushion creation as well as the finalist entry form and $10 entry fee no later than May 1, 2012. Finalists will be judged by the editors of PieceWork magazine. Winning pieces will be featured in the September/October 2012 issue of PieceWork and may travel to one or more museums for exhibitions.

Judging criteria will include originality of the pieces and mastery of the chosen technique.

Pincushions must incorporate at least one of the following techniques: needlework (embroidery, needlepoint, and/or cross-stitch), knitting, crochet, lace-making/tatting, or beading.

Pincushions must be handmade and be no larger than 4" x 4" x 4", anything larger than this will not be judged.

Only photographs will be accepted for the first round of judging. If selected as a finalist, the finished piece must be sent to Piecework. Finished pieces will be returned by September 15, 2012.

No entry fee is required for the first round of judging. Finalist must include a $10 entry fee with the completed piece. Please make checks payable to PieceWork Magazine. Limit of 3 pincushions per person. Each pincushion must have its own Finalist entry form completed, along with $10 entry fee per pincushion, IF selected as finalists.

SPONSORS:
The National NeedleArts Association (TNNA) is sponsoring the GRAND PRIZE of $500 cash!

The grand prize will be awarded to the pincushion that best fulfills the requirements.

Each first-place category sponsor will award the first-place winner of their category with $250 retail value of product.
